Gail Vachon responds to “Can You Forgive Him? (about Jackson Arn being fired from The New Yorker)

Dear Cathy, I tried to reply to this on your blog but it wouldn’t let me, and then it wanted me to sign up for Word Press, oddly. It won’t even let me “like” the post. Didn’t people use to be able to comment? And you said you hoped we would write and tell you why – but I’m not writing to tell you why you should be careful about defending Arn, but rather to say I agree with every word you wrote. He’s a great critic, follows in the tradition of Peter Schjeldahl in that he loves painting and he writes about it simply and from the heart.
I have a friend who works at the New Yorker and I’m going to ask him what’s up with this, if he knows.
This was an email and then I noticed the address was “do not reply” so I found my way here which wasn’t easy!
Cheers
