Sketchbook #31: Larry Silver

I have always thought of Silver’s work as abstract and enigmatic. Now I can see it is also explosive, comical and full of images: forests, people, machines,  seas and ships, carnival rides and storms. This what Silver says about these drawings:

“My charcoal drawings are a series of abstract animated scenarios. Initiated in a trance-like state I explore, through sense memory, significant locations and psychospiritual moments in my personal history. The drawings are a collection of intuitive mark making, a portrayal of essence. “
