Artists need money, that goes without saying. But they also need collectors, individuals who see something in their work that should be cared about, lived with, thought about and preserved for the future.
I would rather my work hang in a tenement living room than be stored in a museum basement or a rich person’s warehouse.
And being curious about why somebody chooses a particular painting to live with, look at every day, maybe even love, I’ve asked a few people to write about it.
