Diane and Bruce Gregory / Taylor Spence
The composition of this
fresco fascinates me
because my eye is drawn
to The Church – Our Church –
a solid building conveying
a stable sacredness while
around it streaks
of yellow light pulsate.
The car is an anomaly
encased in flowing yellow
conveying an other – worldly
essence while the other car
is almost disappeared.
The colors are phenomenal –
deep pinkish red of The Church
streaks of yellow perhaps
sunlight, purple and blue
streaks of roadway and the
green of overhanging branches,
the solidity of the dark street
sign and intricacy of the
black wrought iron fence.
This fresco by Taylor Spence
conveys so much feeling –
the sacred rootedness of The
Church, the ephemeral
other worldliness of the cars
and the permanence of the wrought
iron fence and road sign.

“The Collector” is an ongoing series in which I ask people to talk about a painting or a drawing they own. See other installments here.
