It’s 1903, the very beginning of motion pictures and everything is already there: the violence, the sexploitation and the whole show is run by a couple of clowns—it’s delightful.
The film starts with director Su Friedrich shooting Christopher Harris as he cranks an ancient 35mm projection contraption at the Musée Méliès in Paris (2022), then cuts to “The Magic Lantern” with thrilling new sounds and music by composer Giancarlo Vulcano.
